Artichoke Hearts with Basil and Garlic

The first time I made these I intended to serve them with Shabbat dinner but they were so good that they never made it to the  table.

I don’t even know how it happened 😝

Plus they’re sooo fabulous for you! Artichokes do a great job at detoxing the liver and their fiber helps with digestion, and they are rich in iron, vitamin C, and cancer-fighting anti-oxidents!

Here’s the recipe!

Ingredients:

1 bag of frozen artichoke hearts

1-2 TB of Extra Virgin Olive Oil OR Grassfed OrganicButter

1 bunch of fresh Basil 🌿

3 cloves of prepeeled garlic (save your sanity!)

Directions:

Steam the artichoke hearts until they are soft, it can take 30-40 minutes so make sure there’s plenty of water in the steamer.

Chop up the garlic and dump it into a pan with the EVOO and turn on a low flame for about a minute to let the garlic flavor infuse the oil, then turn off the fire

When the artichoke hearts are soft, throw them into the pan with the EVOO and garlic, and the throw the Basil in. You can slice it if you want but it doesn’t really matter.

Add a little salt to taste and serve.

Totally incredible warm or cold.
